Household recycling rate increase

The 2010/11 NI Municipal Waste Management Statistics Annual Report shows that household recycling and composting rates have continued to increase, reaching just over 35.7% in 2010/11 for the North West Region Waste Management Group area.

This represents a modest increase of 0.7% percentage points on the previous year’s rate and around 10 percentage points more than that achieved in 2005/06. It also exceeds the current Waste Management Strategy target of a 35% recycling rate to be achieved by 2010.
